Tibetan Thangka Tsa-Tsa Pendant — Hand-Painted Deity Amulet in Gold-Plated Frame
Tibetan monks have been making tsa-tsa for over a thousand years — pressed clay tablets and painted amulets bearing deity images, carried close to the body as a form of protection and devotion. This pendant brings that format into something you can wear every day. A hand-painted deity image sits behind a clear protective face, set in a brass frame with K-gold plating. Solid. Specific. Old in the best way.
What Tsa-Tsa Actually Are
The word tsa-tsa refers to a category of Tibetan sacred objects — small, portable, made to hold an image of a deity or teacher. The tradition came to Tibet from India, and over centuries it became one of the most common forms of personal devotion in the Himalayan world. Pilgrims carried them. Monks made them. People kept them in home shrines or on their bodies.
What makes this version distinct is the painting method. The Chinese term 古法彩绘 — literally "ancient-method color painting" — refers to a layered mineral pigment technique that predates modern inks. The colors are applied in stages, built up slowly, with each layer dried before the next is added. The result holds differently than printed imagery. There is depth to it.
Sixteen Deities — Each One Distinct
This pendant comes in sixteen deity variants, each with its own tradition and purpose in Tibetan and Chinese Buddhist practice. Amitabha Buddha — long associated with rebirth in the Pure Land. Acala (不动明王) — a wrathful protector said to cut through obstacles. Green Tara — one of the most widely venerated figures in Tibetan Buddhism, long associated with swift assistance. The Black Wealth God and Yellow Wealth God both come from traditions centered on material blessing and prosperity.
Some are less commonly seen in Western contexts. Samantabhadra (普贤菩萨), the bodhisattva of practice and vow. Bhaisajyaguru — the Medicine Buddha, shown in blue, associated in the tradition with healing and the removal of suffering. Akasagarbha (虚空藏菩萨), a figure connected to memory, intelligence, and abundance. Five Elders (五爷), a group of protective deities deeply rooted in Chinese folk religion. Past Life and Present Life (前世今生) — a paired concept image, unusual among the variants, less deity and more cosmological.
Zhajilammu (扎基拉姆) is a Tibetan wealth goddess with a particular following in Lhasa — her shrine near Sera Monastery draws people who ask specifically for financial help. She is one of the few female wealth figures in the tradition.
Care
Wipe the frame with a soft dry cloth. Keep away from perfume, sweat, and moisture to preserve the plating. Avoid impacts to the face — the clear cover protects the image but is not indestructible.

• Left hand: for protection, healing, or attracting abundance
• Right hand: for releasing or giving energy
