How to Measure Your Wrist
- 1 Wrap a flexible measuring tape or a strip of paper around your wrist, just below the wrist bone where you would normally wear a bracelet.
- 2 Mark the point where the tape or paper overlaps. Make sure it's snug but not tight — you should be able to fit one finger underneath.
- 3 If using paper, lay it flat and measure the length with a ruler. This is your wrist circumference.
- 4 Match your measurement to the size chart above. For a looser fit, add 0.5 – 1 cm to your wrist measurement.
Use a piece of string or strip of paper. Wrap it around your wrist, mark the overlap, then measure the length against a ruler.

How to Choose Your Ring Size
- If your finger circumference is around 2.17" (55 mm), we recommend selecting a ring with an inner diameter of 0.67" (17 mm).
- If your circumference is 2.20–2.24" (56–57 mm), choose a diameter of 0.71" (18 mm).
- For the most accurate measurement, visit a local jeweler to have your ring size professionally measured.
- If your knuckle is noticeably wider than the base of your finger, measure at the widest point of your knuckle. This ensures the ring can slide over comfortably while still fitting well when worn.
Measure your finger at the end of the day when fingers are at their largest. Avoid measuring when your hands are cold or swollen. If you're between two sizes, choose the larger one.

Liudao wood — 六道木, literally "six-path wood" — is named for a botanical feature: when you cut a cross-section of a branch, the pith shows six distinct sections. In Buddhist tradition, the six paths (六道) refer to the six realms of existence described in the Wheel of Life. Using liudao wood for mala beads connects the physical structure of the material to the teaching it represents. The wood itself is a dense, tight-grained hardwood — often described as "降龙木" (dragon-subduing wood) in the folk tradition — valued for its stability and the way it ages without warping.
Plain Beads vs. Gourd-Style Pendant
Two styles are available here. The plain single-ring is exactly what it sounds like — a bracelet of uniform round beads with no additional ornament. Clean and unadorned. The gourd-style replaces the standard connector bead with a small gourd-shaped pendant. The gourd is a traditional Chinese symbol long associated with good fortune and longevity — it also simply looks good as a focal bead among round beads. Neither is more "correct" for practice. It is a visual preference.
Bead Size and How It Wears
Sizes run from 10mm to 20mm. The 10mm and 12mm beads wear like a standard bracelet — they sit comfortably and don't overwhelm a smaller wrist. The 15mm beads are what most people picture when they think of a substantial mala bracelet. At 18mm and 20mm, the bracelet becomes a statement — each bead is large enough to hold between thumb and finger for counting. Practitioners who do formal mantra recitation often prefer the larger sizes. Collectors who like the visual weight also tend to go 18mm or above.

Avoid soaking. Wipe with a soft dry cloth after handling. The wood will darken and develop a patina with regular use — this is a sign of well-worn material, not damage.
