Hand-Painted Thangka Tassel Charm — Bag & Key Pendant with Tibetan Guardian Figures
Most bag charms are decoration. This one started as a tradition. Tibetan thangka painting has been used for centuries to depict guardian figures in a format small enough to carry. This charm brings that format down to pendant size — a painted medallion in a leather frame with a multicolor woven tassel hanging below. It fits on a keyring, a zipper pull, a bag strap.
What Thangka Painting Is
Thangka is a Tibetan word for a scroll painting, traditionally done on cloth with mineral pigments. The goal was accuracy, not expression — each figure has a fixed appearance that practitioners recognize immediately. This charm uses that same visual language, miniaturized onto a clay disc and set under glass.
The Guardian Figures
Each variant depicts a different guardian. Jaksamla (扎基拉姆) is a Tibetan wealth goddess said to be responsive to traders. Green Tara (绿度母) is one of the most widely venerated figures in Tibetan Buddhism, associated with swift help. Manjushri (文殊菩萨) is the bodhisattva of wisdom. Wuye (五爷) is a popular Chinese folk deity for wealth and business luck. The Lotus and Six-Character Mantra variants carry no specific figure — the lotus stands for emergence from difficulty, the mantra for protection through repetition.
Care
Keep away from water and prolonged direct sunlight. Wipe the leather frame gently with a dry cloth if needed. Avoid contact with perfume or oils.
