Black Obsidian Wolf Totem Pendant Necklace — Guardian of Strength & Protection
In the nomadic cultures of Inner Mongolia, the wolf was studied before it was revered. Hunters watched packs for strategy — how they coordinated, how they held formation, how they kept moving through loss. That practical respect became the wolf as totem, as the spirit a community organized itself around. This pendant draws on that tradition — not the Western lone wanderer, but the wolf that guards, the wolf that holds the line.
The Howl and the Character
The wolf on this pendant is mid-howl — head raised, throat open. In traditional iconography that posture is not decorative. A howling wolf is calling the pack, marking territory, making its presence known. The character at the base is the second character in the Chinese word for totem. Without it, this is a wolf carving. With it, the wolf is named as a guardian — a bond between the person and the protective spirit they carry.
When People Reach for It
Not in calm periods. People tend to reach for this pendant during transitions, sustained pressure, or times when steadiness matters more than usual. Some wear it every day. Others put it on the way they would put on armor. It sits at chest level on the braided cord, close to the body.
Care
Obsidian is volcanic glass — it chips on hard impact. Keep away from perfume and prolonged water exposure. Wipe with a soft dry cloth. The cord may darken with wear; this is normal.
