Chalcedony Half-Bangle with Garnet — Adjustable New-Chinese Style
This is a chalcedony half-bangle with small garnet beads strung along the connecting cord. The half-bangle (or open cuff) is a half-circle of polished chalcedony — smooth, cool to the touch — with an elastic cord running through garnet beads to close the gap. It sits on the wrist like a bangle but flexes to fit. The red garnet adds warmth against the pale chalcedony.
The design draws from the guochao (new-Chinese) movement — traditional materials and motifs reworked into modern, wearable pieces. You see half-bangles like this in Chinese street style and on social media. They are lighter than full bangles and do not slide around.
Why Garnet and Chalcedony
Garnet is deep red, often associated with vitality. Chalcedony is pale, milky, and calm. The contrast is not accidental — in Chinese jewelry tradition, red and white together are considered balanced. The garnet is there for color and for the small weight it adds, which helps the bangle sit properly on the wrist.
Care
Avoid hard impacts on the chalcedony cuff — it can crack. Keep away from perfume and sweat. Wipe with a soft cloth after wearing. Do not overstretch the elastic cord.
