Indian Blue Moonstone Bracelet — 7A Glass-Body Ice Grade, Collector Quality
Moonstone gets its characteristic glow from a structure called adularescence. Light enters the stone, scatters between alternating layers of feldspar, and bounces back as a soft, drifting blue-white shimmer. You've probably seen moonstones that look dusky or flat. That happens when the layers aren't well aligned, or when clarity is low. In high-grade material, the blue sits deep and moves cleanly as the stone tilts.
This bracelet is graded 7A — the designation used in Chinese gemstone wholesale markets for top-clarity, glass-body moonstone from India. "Glass body" refers to the base transparency: the stone itself is clear, which is what lets the adularescence read as vivid rather than muddy. Indian moonstone at this clarity level is genuinely hard to source at accessible prices. Most of what circulates at lower grades has visible haziness or weak color.
What "7A" Actually Means in Practice
Grading labels in the gemstone trade aren't standardized the way diamond grades are. "7A" is a convention used by Chinese wholesalers to indicate the highest tier of a given stone type — essentially "no visible inclusions, strong optical effect, consistent color." It's a useful shorthand, not a certified scientific grade.
What it tells you practically: the adularescence in these beads should be strong and consistent bead to bead. Low-grade moonstone often has one or two good beads and several dull ones in the same strand. That inconsistency is the main thing high-grade designation is trying to avoid.
Moonstone in Tradition
Moonstone has been associated with feminine energy, intuition, and lunar cycles across multiple cultures — Hindu, Roman, and various folk traditions in East Asia. The tradition holds that wearing it during transitional periods — new beginnings, emotional decisions, times of change — keeps the wearer attuned to their instincts. Whether or not that lands for you, the stone has a long history of being worn by people who wanted something that meant something.
Care: Wipe with a soft dry cloth. Avoid impacts and prolonged water contact. Keep away from perfume.
