Green Moonstone Bracelet — 7A Natural Stone Beads, Rare Color Variant
Green moonstone is the less common end of the moonstone family. The green body color comes from trace minerals in the feldspar structure — the same mineral group as blue and white moonstone, just with a different chemical makeup. The adularescence is still there: that quiet shimmer that moves as the stone shifts. But it reads differently against a green or grey-green base than it does against white or transparent.
These beads are graded 7A — top clarity in the Chinese gemstone wholesale system. At that grade, the base of the stone should be clear enough that the adularescence reads clean rather than muddy. Lower-clarity green moonstone often looks dull or opaque. The difference is visible side by side.
Why Green Is Harder to Find
Blue and white moonstone dominate the market because they're produced in higher volume from well-established sources in India and Sri Lanka. Green moonstone comes primarily from India and Madagascar in smaller quantities. Demand from collectors and the alternative gemstone market has grown, but supply hasn't scaled the same way. You see it less often at retail — not because it's obscure, but because there's simply less of it to go around.
The 8–9mm bead size in this bracelet is on the larger end for moonstone. Larger beads require clearer rough material — more of the stone is visible, so inclusions and color inconsistency are harder to hide. That's another reason high-grade green moonstone at this size takes more sourcing effort.
Green in Folk Tradition
Green stones have long been associated with growth, balance, and new beginnings across a range of traditions. Within the broader moonstone tradition — which centers on intuition, cycles, and emotional attunement — the green variant is sometimes said to bring those qualities alongside a grounding, nature-connected quality. Practitioners who work with stones deliberately often choose green moonstone when they want the lunar associations of the stone without the cooler, more detached energy of white or silver varieties. That's folk belief, not fact — but it's part of the reason people seek this color out.
